How To Imporve Your Golf Putting To Lower Your Gol

Take A Golf Lesson

There is a famous baseball star known as Hank Aaron who said it took 17 seasons to get 3,000 hits in baseball, but when he played golf he achieved it in one round.

Now I am positive he exaggerated, but the idea there is clear: golf almost certainly embarrass even top sports people. When golf is tried they find a strong dose of reality. They learn that the skills they have in their sport are not transportable to golf.

Now I have said that, please note that it is not that hard to get golf lessons that will put you on the right track. When you appreciate the basics, you will start to feel more calm while you play.

Where is the best place to get golf lessons? There are all sorts of alternatives: such as starting with a driving range; reading books; watching DVD’s; watch the professionals on TV; take a solo instruction; taking a group instruction; and so on.

Be warned, there is a lot of disagreeing information which can make make you very confused. You probably need to give much thought to the amount of allegiance you wish to give golf, both in money and time.

The best counsel I can give you to get golf lessons is to begin with a pro, either in a group or solo. The group idea is probably better, because the cost is lower, there is less anxiety on you to achieve, you are on the same level as the others, plus the people you meet there can be your potential golfing partners (expert golfers don’t like playing with learners).

Now you have taken that golf instruction, get a good manual, study it and practice what it tells you. A quality book is a superior way to get golf lessons than with a professional, because you can advance at your own pace and no one looks at you while you practice. Nothing will make you tense up and muff shots like a critical eye on you!

A good manual will generally cost under $80, which is only pennies when compared to the price of a lesson from a professional, yet the instruction in them is very complete and will cover every aspect of golf.

One thing to really watch out for is “helpful” advice from other golfers. Very few players have a perfect swing and they will show you wrong habits that will be hard to break later. This is definitely not the best way to get golf lessons.

Above all, have fun! Golf can be lots of fun when you have the fundamentals.

How To Have More Success When Golf Putting

December 10th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I am sure you are aware that many people have a customary routine they follow before an action that requires precision and judgment. A wonderful instance of this is watching someone serve while playing tennis, you see all sorts of startling differences in the routine prior to the action, many of which are so entertaining you have difficulty keeping a straight face.

Almost everyone has a pre action routine when playing golf too. Most have a slightly separate one for the chip, the iron shot, the drive and of course the putt.

In this specific article, I want to discuss a pre putt habit that has proved to be very useful in expanding your appreciation of speed, distance and slope during the golf putt.

I am sure you know that if, for example, the grass slopes from left to right, if you strike the ball harder that slope will have less effect in deviating the ball from it’s path. Conversely, if you hit slower the ball will be taken off course much more.

If you ask a golfer why he or she has a particular pre putt routine, they usually can’t give a good answer.

I would like to make a proposal for a pre putt routine that will beyond doubt improve your putting success. This is a proven method that will deliver more reliability with your golf putt than you have experienced up until now.

First, count your steps as you walk from the hole to your ball. Continue past your ball and still counting, walk the same distance again away from the ball but in line with the hole. Hopefully there is no water hazard just there.

Turn and look at the ball and the hole, you will see that the ball is halfway to the hole. You can get a better perspective of slope to right or to left between the ball and the hole from that distance as well. By the time you walk back to the ball, and this is the THIRD time you have covered that distance, your mind will get an acute sense of that distance.

When you are back at your ball, theĀ golf putt will appear easy. Your sense of distance and slope, and therefore how hard you must hit, is greatly enhanced.

Bring your focus back to the ball and make your stroke. As always, keep in mind the golden rule of the golf putt: the ball must travel BEYOND the hole. A ball that stops rolling before the hole will NEVER go in.

Try this routine next time you play and hopefully the improvement in your golf putt will help your score.
